The Ivory Connection
is the only version
of the Sacks
dice routine that begins with magic, looks like magic, and ends with magic.
Two dice appear out of nowhere. Their spots dance across their faces, jumping from die to die until the only thing the audience is sure of is that theyíve seen all sides of each die. Each separate dieÖand then...they reach their final destination, just south of reality.
Archeologists at The Magic Bakery
recently unearthed a lost map of the Ivory Connection
, stored on an ancient form of communication known as videotape. Unable to restore the images they found, they journeyed into the wild to capture Reed McClintock
and Steve Dobson
in their natural habitat. Using modern broadcast-quality
digital cameras, they caught Reed performing the routine in front of a live audience, and both Reed and Steve in the optimal viewing conditions of a video studio.
The new DVD features the updated
presentations, explanations, handlings and tips from both intrepid explorers. For the first time, the rare and illusive Steve Dobson
reveals his preferred handling.
For the first time, Reed McClintock
explains the refinements he has made after years of performances for paying audiences. And as a bonus for future historians, the entire footage
of the original Ivory Connection
is included, in all of its low production glory.
Todayís audiences demand more than just a couple of dice whose sides donít add up. Take them on a trip down the Ivory Connection
WHAT THE PROS SAY:
"The Ivory Connection is my favorite version of the (Sacks Dice Routine). It has a build up and finally an ending with a surprise." - Dean Dill
"Steve Dobson has been a close friend for almost 30 years. He has never ceased to amaze me with his superb (and very direct) magic!
For those who remember, The Ivory Connection was a VHS video put out by Steve Dobson and Reed McClintock several years ago. The problem was two fold:
- 1) You never saw Steve on the video.
- 2) The quality was not good.
Enter the Magic Bakery! Steve Brooks recognized the problems and fixed them by doing a complete remake on DVD. Not only has he remade the Ivory Connection - but you now see both Steve and Reed performing it with two new methods! I can honestly say that the Magic Bakery has another winner on their hands!" - Mike Gallo
"The Ivory Connection is not just another handling of the neo-classic Dr.Sach routine. This has been fully retooled, tightened and simplified, making it a more versatile piece for the strolling performer. The fusing of the dice just comes out of nowhere and is a real kick in the head. Combine those factors with the magical production and vanish of the dice and you have a very commercial routine for the working magician" - Marc DeSouza
"Just when you thought it was safe to put your dice back in the drawer, along comes a routine with everything--a smooth as silk handling, striking visuals, and a clear and definite ending that comes out of left field. The Ivory Connection puts "normal" on the path to extinction" - Curtis Kam
"I wholeheartedly recommend "Ivory Connection" to any worker looking for a good piece of close-up magic; McClintock and Dobson really deliver the goods here. It's something different for audiences, plays huge (considering the props involved), and is astonishing. You can't ask for much more from a magic effect. Rating: 10 out of 10" - Shane / Online-Visions.com
"This is an excellent DVD in which Mr. McClintock and Mr. Dobson perform their versions of the classic 'Sach's Dice Routine'. The routines are very entertaining and funny, and are performed in a way that will not invoke spectator 'challenges'. It is easy to do, fun, and allows the audience to relax and enjoy. Highly recommended" - Paul A. Lelekis / The Linking Ring
"I was lucky enough to get a review copy of the Magic Bakery's re-release of The Ivory Connection. I had purchased the original when it was first released by Reed and Steve.
Reed and Steve do a great job teaching. The camera work and production are great too. I appreciate the new work of the Magic Bakery!
I think that you will like what you see and I reccommend that you add this to your list of resources". - Paul Green
"Okay, first let me say this. I'm a CardGuy. Rarely do I do anything else. HOWEVER, I was lucky enough to see this DVD and I have to say that I'm impressed. I'm an old guy and I remember when the first magic videos came out. (Earl Nelson in BETA, believe it or not!)
I saw this DVD and the first thing that impressed me was the production quality. It puts other magic DVDs to shame. Steve Brook's knowledge of video production has really been proven.
I happen to be lucky enough to have spent time with both Reed and Steve and in my opinion they understand magic on a different level than most do. Not only that, they understand how to teach it.
This is one of the few DVDs I've seen thus far that has the possibility of getting me to pick up something other than a deck of cards. If you know me, then you know how hard that is to do.
I hate to admit it, but it made me look around the house for some dice..." - Steven Youell
